La Samaritaine Pont Neuf Paris, France
‘Le must’ visit new attraction in Paris 2021, no doubt should be La Samaritaine Pont Neuf, knows as the project of ‘Passage of Samaritaine’ (100% owned by LVMH), a new street with social & commercial activities that run through the length of the existing building. Connection between the historical façade of the Sauvage building overlooking the Seine and the façade of Rivoli building on Rue de Rivoli. This is a complex revamp spanning of 70,000 m2, the new premises will house a hotel, department store, social housing & a crèche, offices, in 4 buildings.
-Cheval Blanc, in a late Art Deco building, is a five-star 72 rooms & suites luxury resort hotel facing the Pont Neuf, with a price tag of minimum EURO 1500/room/night.
-La Samaritaine, the emblematic department store which was founded in 1870, is an Art Noveau architecture. Now has been entirely restructured. With its historic and heritage features, such as the glass roof, monumental staircase and peacock painting, have been refurbished to match the original décor. France's top ateliers Vinci handled the conservation and restoration of the façade's hallmarks, including the enameled lava panels, ridges, composite decorations, the ceramics and the mosaics.
-A historic Art Nouveau building designed by architect Frantz Jourdain (a Belgian architect 1847-1935) now includes 96 social housing units meeting the targets of the city of Paris' Climate Plan, with primary energy consumption lower than or equal to 80 kWh/sqm/year.
-Rivoli building, with contemporary wavy exterior façade, served as retail areas and offices. Designed by Sanaa, the Pritzker Prize winners of 2010, Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa.
